Learn to Bowl at Alley Katz

Welcome to the Alley Katz Bowling Education Center. The beautiful thing about bowling is that everyone can bowl! What makes bowling fascinating is that it is one of the most complicated and technical sports out there. We are here to help you learn to bowl! If you hate those gutter balls - we can help! If you're tired of splits, missing spares and ten pins - we can help.

Our coaching staff is led by Silver Level Certified Coach Dave Marsh. Dave has rolled 28 Perfect 300 games, 14 800 three game series and has competed in statewide, regional and national tournaments with success. Most of all, however, is that Dave has been a Physical Education Teacher/Coach in the Groton, Ct. public School System for 38 years. He knows how to teach and can help bowlers of all ages and abilities. You will truly enjoy learning to bowl with Coach Dave. To learn more, click on any of the links below.

Video Bowling Lessons

Using video to evaluate your bowling technique is a great way to improve your game. Follow the instructions below and watch your scores go up.

  1. Choose the angle/view for taking the video. Side View – for this video, the camera should be located at the foul line, two lanes away on the ball side of the bowler. Rear View – the camera is placed behind the bowler and angled to the ball side so that the pins are visible at the start.

  2. Record a video of your bowling motion with any recording device.

  3. Send the video to Coach Dave Marsh at dmarsh22@yahoo.com with the words “Video Coaching” in the subject line. In addition to the video, give a brief description of your bowling profile ( average, level of experience, weight/type of ball, etc. ) and any specific problems you are having.

  4. Coach Dave will evaluate the video and identify one or more IOC’s (Items of Concern). He will then send you some tips that will help you improve.

That's it! Good luck and Good Bowling!
